If you guys know me well (and after 6 years of blogging, I hope you do!), then you know I love the untraditional when it comes to weddings. I love working in items that have nothing to do with weddings into decor, or finding dresses off the rack rather than getting the usual wedding dress. The more modern, the better…which is why I’m beyond excited to be partnering with Barneys New York to show off what they’ve got for weddings!
I dont know if I ever told you this, but 3 months after Chad and I started dating, we were shopping around Barneys and literally found the engagement ring I knew I had to have. It was a stunner from Malcolm Betts, hammered platinum with a vintage diamond, yet perfect for my modern tendencies (similar to this one). I’d never seen anything like it at the time, and its still one of my favorite designs ever. We never even looked anywhere else because there was no need to! Then when it came time to pick out our wedding bands, we checked out a couple of places, but eventually headed back to Barneys, and again, found the perfect ring, this time from Linda Lee Johnson. While the rings were from 2 different designers, they went together amazingly well, and we got it on the spot.
It’s knowing that I can find modern dresses, shoes, accessories, even registry gifts, that keeps me coming back to Barneys for inspiration, and the best part is, since they’re not traditionally “wedding”, they’re totally useable beyond the big day. We’re talking gorgeous pieces from brands like Lanvin, Manolo Blahnik, and Zac Posen, just to name a few. This is the créme de la créme of fashion-forward design, for all you brides who know your stuff.
Of course I had a lot of fun in the process putting together a Pinterest board inspired by what I think is a perfectly Brooklyn/New York modern wedding, featuring chic dresses, sleek hairstyles, and everything else you’ll need to pull it together. You can check it out here.

The beginning of the year is generally when people get engaged, with New Year’s and Valentine’s Day a mere few weeks apart, so now’s a great time to start looking at photographers! If you haven’t already started, Rebecca Belle Photography is a great option! Located in Montclair NJ, she shoots all over the tri-state area, but is also available for destination weddings. Initially trained in film, she now shoots both film and digital, which in my opinion, is the best of both worlds, and has a real knack for capturing the little details. All this for a very reasonable wedding package price that INCLUDES an engagement shoot!
In the spirit of all things LOVE, Rebecca is giving away a free engagement shoot this month, so if you want a chance to win, head over to her blog to enter….the winner will be picked on February 8!

If you’ve ever checked out their site, you can tell just by the look of it that they’re all about fun and keeping things stress free for you, because really, weddings dont have to be any more stressful than they already are, right? They split their time between NYC and Seattle, but are happy to travel anywhere to capture your big day….go ahead and check them out!

When posting about gifts, sometimes I tend to focus a little too much on the bridesmaids…lets chalk it up to me being a girl and wanting them all for myself! But the guys in the bridal party need some love too, so lets talk about them…MyGroomsmenGifts.com has a great variety of gifts for the groomsmen and even the groom that will suit every budget and style. I actually got to play with a bunch of items for this shoot and loved all of them….here are my favs!
Its my opinion that every guy needs a pair of monogrammed cufflinks…they’ll go with everything and he’ll keep them forever! And I’m not one for promoting smoking, but a celebratory cigar in a fancy holder can’t hurt once in a while…why not pair it with a Zippo in a matching finish? You can monogram them as well!
All the guys in my life seem to love shots, so why not get them a set of initialed shot glasses? It’ll make their bar carts seem all the more grownup.
Bridesmaids aren’t the only ones who should prepare for wedding day emergencies, so this kit offers up all the basics…sewing kit, deodorant, stain remover, breath freshener, etc, all in a stylish metal case that can pop into a jacket pocket.
What are you planning on getting the groomsmen in YOUR bridal party? I’d love to hear!
