I have a friend who owns Skidmore Inc (http://www.skidmorestudio.com/we/index.html). – a creative agency in Royal Oak, MI. She had one of her designers mock up this save the date for us. The designers name is Libby Cole and she is available for freelance work (firstname.lastname@example.org) – we loved being recognized as “the couple on the fridge” by friends of friends as we made our way to the big day.

We’ve been together for over seven years and have always loving taking photobooth pictures. We have a book of over 45 different strips, both color and b+w, which have been taken all over the country. Because of this, we decided to incorporate some of our favorites into the design. Of course we will be having a digital photobooth at our wedding ala Our Labor of Love.

I thought I would send ours over for you to see and maybe add to the Save the Date features. Although, I have to say I’m a little nervous sending you pictures, since I know that you look at amazing wedding inspiration every day. They are DIY with lots love. Our amazing friends and family helped us form an assembly line one weekend at my house to put together all the pieces. I used my favorite Cricut and Cuttlebug craft machines for cutting the numbers and embossing. The paper products including the mini envelopes are from Paper Source. They were hard work, but we’ve been getting lots of fun feedback from our guests and I’m hoping that it gets them excited for the wedding that is to come. Now I just have to figure out what to do for our invitations!

My husband Rama and I are both artists with a special fondness for children’s book illustration, so our wedding theme was vintage + children’s book + and just plain sweet. Our printed materials were inspired by The Little Prince, one of our favorite books. For the save-the-date, Rama drew a portrait of me as a girl and I drew a portrait of him as a boy, and the two versions were sent out to our respective families and friends. The story continues — and the two drawings coming together — with our invitations.

we got a lot of positive – fun feedback about our save-the-dates. we wanted something casual, but slightly different. i loved the idea of a card that opened up, and my husband who plays in a band, liked the music/poster style. inadvertently we chose a sort of typical mardi gras color combo – something that was perfect as i spent 7 years living in new orleans.
