The Design: I used our initials to create a playful double entendre in the design…both sweet (AH) and practical (A)aron (H)eidi. Hummingbirds are a central theme in our wedding…they are my good luck charm and they symbolize peace, love and happiness! They also harken to our playful spirit and love of nature (our wedding is being held here: http://magc.org/)
The Process: It took SO long to come up with the design and then produce it! Being a designer is a benefit and a curse in this regard. I created the design in illustrator cs3 and printed the cards via gocco (my first gocco project!) Each card had to be printed twice to have the pink stand out against the chocolate brown. The backside features basic information and our wedding website information. I used Paper Source Papaya cover stock, smart carnival chocolate brown envelopes, and custom labels. My color palette is like a peach…features pinks, peaches, a little orange, yellow, right up to the stem…bright green leaf and brown stem!
The Suite: I’m about to get started on the invitation suite soon, but I can tell you that the invites will feature a laser-etched design, akin to Tord Bootjne!!! More to come on that! I am aiming to kickstart my own custom invitation business next year, post wedding.

Our Save-the-Date was very simple. We chose to do the photo booth idea and to incorporate our little pup as well. We took the pictures in our bathroom and put them together in photoshop. We printed everything out at home and then I put them together one-by-one. Our only expense was the colored paper we used to back the photos and the envelopes, so it was very budget-friendly. We’ve received many compliments and love the way they turned out.

Huge fan of your blog! Wanted to pass along my save the dates as they have been my first labor of love during my wedding planning process.
My fiance Jon and I are getting married in my hometown of Buffalo. Our whole theme (if you can call it that!) is “vintage flea market.” We made all 110 STDs ourselves (yes Jon even got into our little craft project!) Each Save the Date is unique – they all feature different mini postcards of landmarks in Buffalo and each STD has a different vintage paper calendar. The calendar was cut out of a regular file folder, we printed all the calendar pages ourselves, pasted them all together and inked all the edges of everything to give it that “old” look. The mini “vintage postcards” were two sided with all of our wedding info on the backside. The postcards are affixed to the calendars with little clothespins, brass fasteners, and various other vintage clips.
They came out exactly as I had hoped – hope you enjoy them as well!!!

I was just on your blog and since you’ve been doing save-the-dates, I thought I’d send mine along as well. Our designer put together a wedding logo based on the CBGB logo and then we had black t-shirts made and put all of the hotel info on laminated tags which we attached with safety pins. They were quite a hit!
We wanted to get the word out about our holiday weekend destination wedding early. Marit Hanson‘s concert poster Save the Dates were perfect for us – setting a “not to be missed” tone from the start, and perfect for two live music-lovers! We’re still getting compliments about them.
