DIY: Make a boutonniere for your groom

how-to-make-a-tassel-boutonniere

I love taking a traditional concept and giving it a new spin. The traditional boutonniere is made of flowers and attached to the lapel of a suit but for this DIY, I thought it’d be fun to spiffy it up a bit. In homage of Memorial Day yesterday, I took some inspiration from military badges and created a tassel pin. You can use the colors of the wedding to keep the theme cohesive.

Supplies: scissors, large gold safety pin (try this option from Amazon), crepe paper in the colors of your choice.

Step 1: Cut a piece of crepe paper with the grain going the short way of the crepe paper. I made mine about 2″ wide.

Step 2: Cut small pieces into the crepe paper about 1 1/2″ in.

Step 3: Roll the crepe paper in to form a tassel.

Step 4: Puncture the top of the tassel onto the safety pin.

step 5: Repeat for the additional colors.

Voila!

In just a few easy steps, you’ve created a fun and unique boutonniere for your groom. Try it with the groomsmen too!

8 ways to add yellow to your wedding

8-WAYS-TO-ADD-YELLOW-TO-YOUR-WEDDING

To me, yellow means the arrival of summer and a yellow wedding is the perfect way to capture the season. Use it on its own for a bold statement or pair it with either a navy or pink and you’ll surely set a memorable tone to the event.

10 modern veil ideas

10-modern-veil-ideas

My little sister recently got engaged and as the dutiful big sister, I’ve taken it upon myself to give her all ideas. You’re welcome! She’s already chosen a lovely gown and I think a unique veil would be the perfect accessory. This is coming from somebody who does not usually like veils! The wedding ensemble these days has become a bit more relaxed in some ways so the veil really brings it back home for me. Some of these veil ideas touch on retro or antique influences, but with a shorter length, a fun color, or an additional accessory, they take on a more modern vibe.

Headpiece inspirations for your modern wedding

headpiece-for-your-wedding

I’ve had headpieces on my mind lately (see why) and I can’t help but think that a wedding is the perfect excuse to glam up your head. If I were to get married over again, I’d definitely go wild and crazy with the head gear. These are some of my favorite inspiration looks for creating a wedding headpiece. They’re not necessarily bridal, but could definitely be used as such.
