Decorating with balloons

decorating-with-balloons

Balloons are one of the happiest ways to decorate a party. Clump them together in various colors to add a fun look or on their own. There are so many options! Here are some of my favorite ways to decorate with balloons.

  1. Single oversized balloon–give it to the bride to hold!
  2. Balloons on a ladder–right outside the venue!
  3. Balloons throughout a room–perfect to dress up a boring reception venue
  4. Balloons on a stick–hand them out to your guests
  5. Balloons in a window–entice your guests with a fun balloon display in a window
  6. Balloons on a ceiling–douse the ceiling with hundreds of balloons
  7. Write words on a balloon–and have a flower girl hold them
  8. Balloon arch–perfect for picture taking or for the ceremony
  9. Balloons in various colors along a path–perfect for wayfinding in an outdoor space
  10. Balloon columns–a fun way to dress up a space
  11. Confetti balloons–don’t you just love the look?!

Sarah + Craig post wedding shoot

My husband and I were married last December in Sydney, Australia and our favourite photographer was not able to attend. So when we returned to frigid Toronto, Ontario, where we live, we did a little shoot out on frozen Lake Ontario, wearing our wedding gear (as well as vintage bear fur stole and warmer boots :)

The photographer was Matt O’Sullivan who I believe is one of the best emerging wedding photographers in our city, growing his business from his amazing street photography work: http://thenarrative.net/

Jinsoojung wedding

Ever since discovering the blog jinsoojung…I’ve been waiting in anticipation for her wedding photos to be posted! I know you’re going to understand why once you see these pictures…

my husband and i met in high school when we were just 16 years old and we’ve been together ever since.  after having been together for so long, our idea of the “perfect” weddind shifted to an event where we could just enjoy ourselves.

the wedding was held at the mills gallery, in boston’s south end. we included a mix of traditional, non-traditional, korean and american elements, and even a trolley tour of the city. in general, if something didn’t feel like “us”, we didn’t incorporate it into the wedding. in the end, we had a fun day surrounded by our family members.

in the 6 months leading up to the wedding, not only were chris and i planning the wedding, but we were also applying to law and graduate schools, apartment hunting, and maintaining full-time jobs. it was a chaotic blur in our lives. and we often look back and wonder how we were able to do everything at once.

You can see more photos at jinsoojung…unfortunately Christine has stopped blogging, but you can catch up with all her past inspirations.

Real wedding: Randi + Jacob

Of course this wedding rocks: Randi is associate style editor at MS Weddings! Do we expect anything less? What I really loved about this wedding was the simplicity in the decor…white round balloons, bowls of moss, and red bakers twine. Thats about it! How simple, how chic, and you can bet how affordable!
