A year ago today, and a binder

Chad and I were on vacation in New Orleans when he proposed to me exactly a year ago today!!!!….funny thing is I totally knew it was going to happen.

We happened on a stationery store on Magazine Street where I found these incredibly cute [and helpful] binders from Russel and Hazel and bought them for my wedding planning even before he popped the question! The large one I bought for all my images, the small one I bought for notes at meetings, and the tote I bought just because. I’ve always HATED those “cookie cutter” wedding planners they have in stores…too girly and frilly…so I just made my own. If you happen to get one of the wedding planners with a 3-ring binder as a gift, definitely use some of those sheets to help get you started in a new fabulous binder, then fill the rest with sheet protectors for your images.

More reader invites!

Diane from Circa1979 sent me some invites she designed for her own wedding…I love the separate RSVP cards! And hey, if anyone out there has got some cool, modern invites you’ve designed and want to show off, send them over!

I’m a graphic designer by day and a bride-to-be at night and took my invitations into my own hands. I bought my card stock and envelopes from Paper Source (my favorite paper store!), and lined my envelopes with Gypsy paper by Pasticcio Prints from Paper Mojo. I fed the card stock through my inkjet printer and created this set for our “big day!” I hand-illustrated both maps, scanned them into Photoshop and then edited them to fit the paper we were using. It was so satisfying and worth the extra work!

Photo favorites: Christy Weber

Christy Weber from Junebug Weddings:

I took these photos at the wedding of my dear friend (and Junebug business partner) Kim, to her husband Adam. To fulfill their wedding dream, they rented an honest-to-goodness chateau outside of Paris and created the vacation of a lifetime for their family and friends. The wedding itself took place in rooms throughout the chateau and included cake from the neighborhood boulangerie, flowers from the local market, and the most memorable wine on the planet from the vintner down the lane. It was a week of love, laughter, celebration and pure magic, and these photos bring it all right back to me!

i heart brooklyn designers: five and a half

five and a half is a brooklyn based bookmaking and design studio started by Judy Lee. All the journals are lightweight, sustainable, and feature the art of some great photographers and illustrators. I got to see the Bushwick journal while at Cog and Pearl this past weekend, and completely fell in love. Great for gifts!
