We don’t know about you, but for us, the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan has re-sparked our philanthropic drive. Hearing about the amazing acts of humanity, empathy, and incredible selflessness that are happening there every day reminds us that even small actions, when pooled with the actions of others, can have huge positive impacts on the world around us. This month, we’re making one of those small actions a little easier for you. You might consider a philanthropic donation to one of the organizations that provide relief worldwide in lieu of favors for your wedding. To announce to your guests that you are forgoing favors, you can print out a simple card that explains your donation and either set one at each place, or set a bunch on a table with a pretty floral arrangement for guests to pick up on their way out. We’ve put together a card for donations to the American Red cross, but there are tons of non-profits doing amazing work out there. Some organizations to consider are The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Shelterbox, UNICEF, CARE and Save the Children. Or, if you and your fiance have a cause about which you are passionate, consider donating to a charity that works with your cause. Happy giving! – Miya + Elisabeth
