Guest post: Bouquet inspiration from The Bride’s Cafe

Hi, it’s Janie from The Bride’s Cafe and JMFlora Design…and I’m so excited to stop by Brooklyn Bride today and share a little floral inspiration with you guys…thanks so much Vané !!  So, guys, what’s your “Bouquet Style”…….I know you all love flowers, so don’t be shy!  Are you more of a “Monochromatic Bouquet” bride or are you loving the “Mixed Floral Bouquets”….personally, I’m loving them both…I can’t help it!

To help you decide, I’m sharing a few of my favorite bouquets in both styles….having a monochromatic bouquet is a great way to bring a “pop” of color into your wedding and it’s also brings simplicity…if you’re thinking of going this way, try using blooms such as peonies, tulips, and ranunculus…these beautiful blooms come in a variety of gorgeous bold colors and they are sure to make a statement on your wedding day!

If you are more of the “Mixed Floral Bouquet” kind of bride, then choose some of your favorite flowers in your favorite color palette and go for it….it’s your wedding day and what ever you choose….make it your own…xoxo

The New Modern: Spring Green

Happy Spring Brooklyn Bride! I can’t believe we are on our 12th tablescape.  This table really sums up all we’ve tried to accomplish with this series. Which is to present a fresh modern perspective on floral design that is approachable and easy to create. When discussing the series with Adrienne and Tory, we kept returning to the word “happy’ as in our desire to create classic designs that make you smile. And there is certainly no happier a flower than the daffodil. They just embody cheerfulness to me. A ceramic blue and white planter from Pearl River (or any home goods store) holds a mass of fringed and double white tulips, green parrot tulips and hellebore. I made some little yellow daffodil “topiaries” using a bit floral foam covered with moss and place them in small Chinese bowls. A grass green runner and cute checked salad plates finish it off. Adrienne worked closely with designer Hermias Wishes who designed the perfect accompanying paper goods. I love the table’s crisp breezy feel -perfect for April. I hope you enjoy it.

Baby’s breath done right!

Remember when baby’s breath was only accompanied by a single red rose? It just doesn’t do this beautiful, whispy flower justice! I’ve been coming across beautiful arrangements of baby’s breath recently and it’s been inspiring me to want to do my own projects. Maybe these might be inspiration for your wedding?

Beautiful leaves

Over the weekend I popped over to the Brooklyn Winery to check out their wedding setup and came upon some majorly beautiful flowers & huppah by BB vendor Graceful Gardens.  I was absolutely fascinated by the leaves used to decorate the huppah, and discovered they are cecropia leaves from Hawaii…they’re absolutely stunning, dont you think?
