The first one is a shot our photographer caught of the flower girls when they first saw “the bride” (me). You can see from their expressions how magical the whole experience was for them. I think that for a little girl, seeing a bride is probably right up there with seeing Santa Claus. And I love that.
The second one: Of the thousand or so pictures our photographer took, this one always makes me smile the most. For one thing, I can remember how much fun we were having right at that moment. But there are also some details—the earrings that he gave me as a wedding present, his wedding band, the buttons I bought for him in Portugal, the cheesy wedding cake topper (which was his ONE request in the whole year of wedding planning)—that I just find so personally endearing.

This was hard but I finally narrowed it down to this image of one of my favorite couples, Melissa and Nathan. They were married at a beautiful old Catholic church in South Pasadena and then held their reception at the lovely outdoor space at the Athenaeum at Cal Tech. What I love most about this particular image is how it captures everything in one frame- the way Melissa looked at Nathan, the smile and look in Nathan’s eyes as he listened to family and friends’ toasts to their future, and the old world beauty and ambiance of the location. I really feel like this single candid image captured the spirit of Melissa and Nathan’s wedding- loving, beautiful, and classic.

I took these photos at the wedding of my dear friend (and Junebug business partner) Kim, to her husband Adam. To fulfill their wedding dream, they rented an honest-to-goodness chateau outside of Paris and created the vacation of a lifetime for their family and friends. The wedding itself took place in rooms throughout the chateau and included cake from the neighborhood boulangerie, flowers from the local market, and the most memorable wine on the planet from the vintner down the lane. It was a week of love, laughter, celebration and pure magic, and these photos bring it all right back to me!

Attached is one of my favorite photos. To me, it captures the joy and beauty of one of my favorite brides, Lisa Wong Jackson (of Good On Paper Design). She and her husband Nick are a stunning couple and Lisa designed an amazing event. This image was also featured in Martha Stewart Weddings and on the cover of Photo District News, both of which were super exciting. I love to make candid images like this that shows off both a bride’s unique personality and fabulous details!

Something about shooting into the setting sun always reminds me of an
old film, and since I studied film in school, I love photos that look
like movie stills. This one does that, and also, it was moment when
the camera was forgotten, and the couple was just being themselves
together (someone was asking them for directions on the street).
