Survivor Soiree

In case you haven’t heard about this, I wanted to let you all in on something wonderful that chewing the cud and byrd+bleeker have cooked up….
I wanted to share with you the latest collaboration of chewing the cud (Viola) and byrd + bleeker (Libby) in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Survivor Soireé
Both Libby and I wanted to find a way to help in the fundraising efforts to promote the advancement of breast cancer research. We have known and been touched by the courageous stories of these survivors, one of which is my mom. This inspiration gave birth to the concept of Survivor Soirée— a pink party to celebrate celebrate the vitality of the women who have survived breast cancer. The creative strength of both our companies resulted in these “New Beginnings” letterpress invitations (by chewing the cud) and the “Sweetness of Life” candy bar (by byrd + bleeker). I’ve attached a series of photos + taglines that highlight the details of our concept. We chose specifically to donate 10% of all proceeds to the Nellie B. Connally Breast Cancer Foundation at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at Houston, where Libby calls home and where my dad is currently a patient. This project is near and dear to our hearts at many levels.
And through the month of October, mention Brooklyn Bride and get 20% off!

Modern Bride Trendsetters event
Whew, 3 nights of wedding events with one the Wedding Salon tonite, I don’t know how I’m going to last! Last nights Trendsetters event hosted by Modern Bride with The Wedding Library certainly was a success…the line to get in was practically wrapping around the block! Inside you were greeted by fabulous cocktails and yumminess, and if you could make your way through the crowd, you could also get to see amazing vendors like Lisa Hoffman of CeciNY, Eleni’s Cookies, and Sue Fleming of Buff Brides. Anyone else brave the cold to check it out?

Junko Yoshioka Fall/Winter 2009 from Vane Broussard on Vimeo.
Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to the Junko Yoshioka runway show at the Jumeirah Essex House. I was so happy to run into some familiar faces like Darcy Miller, Anne Chertoff and Leigh Crandall. Here were some of my favorites….love that giant ruffle at the end! Check out The Bride’s Guide for some more delicious pics from this show and others.
Stay tuned later for an introduction to a new guest blogger!
