The cake

The Martha Stewart calla cake has always been my favorite and what I envisioned my wedding cake to be. Unfortunately, its a logistical nightmare! Those clear columns separating the layers were custom and cost upwards of $60, which to me, just isn’t worth the cost for an otherwise free cake [Abigail Kirsch has their own baker deal with the cakes]. Sooo, it looks like we’ll be taking inspiration from the master, April Reed, and go with something subtle yet beautiful. We’ll probably end up doing white layers with green ribbon and yellow flowers, but who knows, that could all change in a week.

I had white layers with pink ribbon and flowers on top. My advice, for what it is worth, be a little more daring within budget.

I think the colours for my wedding are similar to yours. Luckily for my my moh is a cake decorator. We’ve been working out what shes going to do and I thought I’d show you a link to the images:

I am making 3 black pedestals out of wood from home depot and I think they will really make the green amazing. I think its a good $ saving idea if you want a dramatic cake without the cost
