08. 03. 2009Real wedding: Karolina + Scott

Hello. My husband and I have just started blogging about our June 6th wedding (http://paperheartsandcranes.blogspot.com/) and thought we would share the lovely photos/ideas with the BklynBride Community! The wedding was a representation of us and our life from beginning to end. It started with the idea of wanting the wedding to be very DIY and home made. We are both quite crafty so it was (mostly) fun for us! With the help of our amazing family and friends everything came together in the end and turned out better than we imagined. We chose the Apple Barn Farm in Hudson, NY (http://rombers.tripod.com/) after finding it on another great blog (http://www.shelterrific.com/). The blog moderator, Angela, had her wedding there and after contacting her for advice, Scott and I visited the barn and knew this was our place!
In choosing Apple Barn Farm, you also get the amazing staff there and more specifically Mary Beth, the care taker of the barn. She runs a tight ship and makes sure both you and your vendors are on top of everything! We couldn’t have done it without her!!
Our amazing catering was done by a local husband and wife team called Renner’s Creative Celebrations. All the ingredients are local, and as part of our green theme, this was important to us. We created the local seasonal menu in the theme of a summer barbecue complete with pulled pork and mac and cheese!
I wore a Claire Pettibone dress, which I picked up in the LA flagship. While there in November I made an appointment and it was the first dress I tried on. Perfect dreamy summer wedding dress. I felt like I was floating in it and the fabric was perfect for a balmy June afternoon. I bought my veil on Etsy from and amazing woman who hand makes all of them. (http://Rohm.etsy.com Bridesmaids wore J. Crew. Scott wore Paul Smith and groomsmen wore Uniqlo suits. Flower girls were in UsAngels.
It was important for us that our wedding be as eco-minded as possible. The food was all local and seasonal. The plates, cups, napkins, and cutlery were all sustainable and compostable bamboo. We even asked guests to reuse the plates at the buffet in an effort to be more green! The invitations and all paper was printed locally on recycled paper with soy based inks. Favors for our guests were local organic honey and even our tables were covered in recycled kraft paper and the florist provided local flowers.
Our beautiful photos were shot by Chad Hunt (http://www.chadhuntphotography.com/). His amazing ability to understand our vision was one less thing to worry about on the wedding day. From our first meeting with him we knew we could trust him in getting all the perfect shots we wanted and more. His photojournalistic style was exactly what we were looking for and his calm nature and friendly attitude were so helpful as I was a nervous wreck before the ceremony!
The three days leading up to the wedding were filled with exhausting hours and sawing, building, cutting, bow tying, crane folding and last minute crafting with our friends. But without all of their love, Scott and I would never have been able to have the unforgettable wedding that we did.

I have a question on this venue. My fiance and I are pretty certain we’d like to have our wedding next May/June at Apple Barn Farm. We think it’s gorgeous and feels so much like us.
We’ll have about 150-200 guests and we’re wondering if the barn provides enough space for everyone, especially during dinner. Do you have any words of advice?
Thanks!
