Brides New York feature – finally revealed!

I’ve been waiting for so long to share this all with you, but had to wait til the magazine was almost out (August 19)…..a few month ago, we did a photoshoot at our apartment for Brides New York Magazine for their “Find Our Wedding Style” feature. It’s where they take an engaged couples apartment and use it as the inspiration for their wedding. We had so much fun during the shoot, and I think they came up with some great ideas…I especially love that they worked in a lot of handmade touches, and gee whiz, my favorite color green!
Are you interested in being the NEXT couple for this feature? Leigh’s looking, so here’s all the info you need:
Brides Local Magazines is looking for an engaged couple in the New York/New Jersey area to appear in the magazine’s Spring/Summer issue as the featured couple in our “Find My Wedding Style” story. In a nutshell, here’s how it works:We photograph an engaged couple’s apartment and based on style elements from their home (pictures, furniture, clothes, etc.) create ideas for their wedding. The couple is not required to use any of our ideas, and it’s okay if they already have elements of their wedding in place. The purpose of the story is to show our readers how items from their day to day life can inspire great ideas, and how their interior design aesthetic can be translated into wedding details. No fancy digs needed—what I’m looking for is a distinct style we’ll have fun working with. All that’s required from the couple is an afternoon for our team to come over and take photos.
Interested couples should email the following to me at leigh_crandall@condenast.com:
-names
-wedding date
-wedding location
-any thoughts they already have about the formality or vibe of their wedding
-a brief description of their personal styles
-five to seven photos of their home (a few wide shots and close ups of any details they feel are particularly “them”) and one picture of themselves so we can get a sense of who they are and what their living space is like.

Oh how fun! And I have to ask, where did you procure your duvet cover (or the fabric, if it was DIY)? It’s a-dor-able.

the duvet is from Dwell…making that would have been WAY too ambitious for me

Hi Vane–
I love your inspiration board! Can you tell me where you got your white peg board? And was it easy to mount?
Thanks!

the peg board is actually from the now defunct Hold Everything…its metal so i can use fun magnets and the holes are great for hooks.

Not to get nit-picky, but didn’t your wedding stationery have the Brooklyn Cyclone, bagels and a map of Brooklyn on it and was by Jaime Viñas of Viñas Design? The feature has a different set of invites by Atelier Isabey … What’s the story?

the article isn’t about using what we’ve already chosen…they’re starting from fresh and using the apartment as the inspiration.

Hi Vane! I have to say CONGRATULATIONS on the feature, but seriously, the things you selected for your wedding were so much more interesting and reflective of your personality. You did an AWESOME job. Also, I want to say thank you so much for all your help and inspiration. I’ve been a reader since a teeny bit before we were engaged, and we just got back from our honeymoon a week ago! Reading your blog led to some great ideas and also kept the planning fun for me. Yay, Vane! Thanks again and best wishes.
